Wedding planning has turned out to be quite the stressful task already. So many decisions to be made & so many factors to think about. It probably does not help that I am the MOST indecisive person EVER! One minute I want a destination wedding... the next minute I want a wedding near my hometown. I guess I have been living under a rock, but I never realized how expensive it is to have even a simple wedding. It has been so hard for me to justify spending what amounts to a down payment for a house on just ONE day. Has anyone else felt this way?? When looking for venues I have been amazed to find places costing thousands of dollars and that cost not even including a single chair!! The cost is just so overwhelming to me. Almost makes me want to elope BUT I'm sure I would regret that later on. (& my mother would die!)
I'm extremely blessed to have wonderful parents who plan to foot the bill =) My dad has given me a set amount he is willing to spend & he said whatever I do not spend he will give me to go towards a down payment on a home. Sooo this is yet another reason I am struggling with the money factor in planning the wedding!

Well enough of my rambling.. here are some wedding looks that I LOVE :)
I love a romantic and elegant feel & I tend to gravitate towards shades of pink!
We have not set a date yet, but it's looking like Spring 2012 is a possibility!! As you can see I am still in the very early stages of planning. I welcome all advice and tips y'all have, so bring them on =) Also, any fantastic wedding ceremony & reception sites in SC, GA, or AL that y'all know of please pass the word on.

Good luck! When planning our wedding, to be able to sift through all the different themes you could go with, I thought of what was most "us". We had a simple garden-ish wedding and it was "us" and we loved it. You just need to figure out first what will work for y'all! My wedding link is under my blog header...
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful wedding inspirations! Good luck with all the planning!
ReplyDeleteSo fun! What beautiful inspiration images. You'll love The Green Wedding Shoes website. http://greenweddingshoes.com/ Great for inspiration! (:
ReplyDeleteI don't have too much advice, all accept that I agree with Emily. Go with what's fitting to YALL. It can be very stressful, especially when sometimes you don't seem to want to care (like I did NOT care that much about centerpieces... I just wanted someone to choose them for me, and just make sure they look nice). At the end of it all, I remembered what I wore, my hair, my bridesmaids, and the over-all feel of the venue. I could really have cared less about the cake, flowers, chairs, invitations, save-the-dates, etc. Don't sweat the small stuff, and spend where YOU think it's worth it. I spent a pretty penny on my videographer, photographer, and dress b/c that's what was important to me. Most everything else I tried to just find something for a good deal. =)
ReplyDeleteTalking about early stages of planning. I was planning my wedding 3 months before Brandon even proposed ha! It is definitely something different being a full-time bride... I wish you all the best in these first stages of planning! Start off just like you're doing - making lists, creating collages, and galleries of ideas, looks, designs, and layouts of everything about your wedding!!
ReplyDeleteOh and even when you cut almost all corners possible, you still end up with a ridiculous amount of $$ going into your wedding. However, and I really do believe in this: You are only SUPPOSED to get married once. (I don't mean for this to be any type of a lecture) :) Forgive me if this is what it sounds like... Marriage isn't something to take lightly! If you and Matt are serious about each and plan on spending the rest of your life together (the whole 'death do us part') then don't be afraid about the money. You only get one wedding, and it goes by SO fast! Enjoy every minute of the planning!! It'll be here before you know it!
Brandon and I tried to pay for our wedding as much as possible on our own. We had some help here and there and had family donate their time and services, which helped out tremendously!! His grandmother did our flowers. His aunt helped with the decorating. And my parents' friends donated our cakes! Try to round up some friends and family members who would be willing to help make your day PERFECT!! Because that's what it's all about in the end - You and Matt!
Let me know if you need anything or have any questions! :)
Thank you all so much for the advice. I really do appreciate it! Y'all help me put things into perspective and helped me to remember to focus on the big picture rather than the minor details!!
ReplyDeleteI totally understand where you are coming from!! We totally wanted a "small and simple" wedding, yet the bill just continued to go up. We didn't do anything elaborate. Every little thing adds up. However, it was TOTALLY worth it!! We didn't spend a huge amount of any one item, it was spread out over everything, which made it easier to not feel so bad for spending so much money. Just try to be conscious of what you are spending, look online for cheaper ideas of things you love, try Etsy for homemade stuff, and use Hobby Lobby and Michael's (esp if you have coupons). Spend money on things you love and things that matter to YOU and the FIANCE'. It'll all be worth it that way! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! =) all of them! I went with tiffany box blue and threw in a spring-y green apple green and a tiny hint of hot pink. Wedding colors and details are so much flipping fun!
ReplyDeletebut omg expensive! I found that country clubs will offer really all-inclusive packages making them way more affordable than some of the big ticket venues. Have you looked at a few yet?

Jennifer- I have looked into a few and it seems like places that are all-inclusive are the way to go. Seems like the less stressful route! I just need to get on the ball & start calling places for prices.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the sweet comment on my blog today! I tried to email you back, but it didn't work. so here's what I said: You can still curl your hair when it's short. All you need is a smaller barrel and to use smaller sections of hair! I bet it'd be cute on you. I do my mom's like this sometimes, too, and it's adorable (:
